DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology that provides high-bandwidth (high-speed) network connections to individual homes and businesses.
Why DSL over dial-up?
Much higher speeds, DSL can deliver more than 100 times the network performance of a standard analog (dial-up) modem. While the exact speed depends on various factors, even the most basic DSL connection should easily outperform standard modems by a factor of 20 or more.
Always on connection, DSL users do not have to "dial-up" each time they wish to use the internet.
Talk & Surf capability, users do not need a second telephone line to keep the line "open". DSL lets you talk and surf at the same time on the same line.
Unlimited internet access is included. Users are not restricted to hourly based dial-up plans.
Can I get high speed internet?
DSL service is available to all Sandhill Members. Contact your Customer Service Representative at (843) 658-3434 for landline service requirements.
How much does it cost a month?
- Super Speed DSL up to 1.5 Meg = $39.95 per month
- Super Speed DSL up to 3.0 Meg = $59.95 per month
- Super Speed DSL up to 5.0 Meg = $79.99 per month
What is the installation charge?
The $185.00 installation charge is waived if the service is agreed to be kept for one year. If the service is disconnected before the one year period, the remaining months left will be billed at $15.42 per month.
Can I have more than one computer online?
Yes, computers must be networked together. Sandhill can provide networking services. Contact your Customer Service Representative at (843) 658-3434 for pricing information.
What special equipment do I need?
A NIC card (network interface card):
Many newer computers come with this. It is usually called a 10/100 T-Base Ethernet connection or something similar. To check if one is already installed on your computer, double click on My Computer, then Control Panel then Network Connections.| Sandhill Network Card Prices: | ||

Filter:
When DSL service is added to a telephone line it creates a noise on the line due to the additional frequencies it uses. A splitter/filter is required and is installed by Sandhill outside the location. It must be purchased from Sandhill.| Sandhill Splitter/Filter Price: | ||

Modem Maintenance
DSL Modem Maintenance Plan is $3.00 per modem, per month, covers the repair or replacement of any modem that malfunctions due to equipment failure or normal wear and tear.Damage to equipment (wiring, jacks, telephones or DSL modems) caused by misuse or handling beyond normal wear and tear is not covered by the Maintenance Plans.
